Ada Hensley, 103, 0f Liberty, died Friday, May 30, 2014 at the Knolls of Oxford. Ada was born in Barboursville, Knox County, Kentucky, on March 28, 1911, to Floyd and Lila Hurst Gibson. She was a member of a Baptist Church in Kentucky. After moving from Kentucky, Ada resided in Union County for over 86 years. Ada devoted her life to being a homemaker and raising her family. Ada is survived by four daughters: Dorothy Webb of Connersville, Edith Grant of Blooming Grove, Nancy Abernathy of Liberty, and Doris Jackson, husband Robert, of Baltimore, MD; seventeen grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren, and twenty great-great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, Ada was preceded in death by her husband, James Oscar Hensley who died on November 4, 1994; three sons: James W., Gilbert, and Johnny Hensley; two brothers: Henry and Dewey Gibson; a half-brother Arthur Brown; a sister, Mandy Saylor; and three grandchildren. Funeral Services will be conducted at 12:00 noon, on Wednesday, June 4, at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Fosdick Chapel, Liberty, with Charles Holiday, a family member, officiating. Burial will follow in Sims Cemetery in Franklin County. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. till the time of service where memorial contributions may be made to the Franklin County Humane Society.
