Ada Maxine Schmalfeldt, 98, passed away on Monday, December 12, 2016. She was born on September 5, 1918 in Everton, Indiana. Ada was the last child born to Nannie Dozier and Abraham Lincoln White. Her siblings were Mary Funk, Grace Ripberger, Lavern Wenz, Opal Maley and Richard White. All her siblings are now deceased. She married Hubert Henry Schmalfeldt on July 31, 1937 in Connersville. He predeceased her on January 10, 1992.
Ada and Hubert had six children: Jackie Schmalfeldt ( Sherran) of Plainfield, IN; Jill Olar (Greg) of Monrovia, IN; Jerry Schmalfeldt (Pam) both deceased; Jeffrey Schmalfeldt (Patricia) of Four Oaks, NC; Jay Schmalfeldt and(Molly) of San Antonio, TX; and Jennifer Hoyt (Darryl) of Warfordsburg, PA. Ada had a large loving posterity of 13 grandchildren: Cherryl Neher ( Kenny, who is deeased), Bruce Schmalfeldt (Jane), Taryn Valbert (Wendell), Tracy Lacher (John), Rhonda Schmalfeldt, Lora Schmalfeldt, Derek Schmalfeldt (Karen), Wendy Skinner (Donnie), Todd Schmalfeldt, Tanja Schmalfeldt, Nathan Schmalfeldt (Joan), Chrysan Schmalfeldt, and Jasmine Schmalfeldt. In addition she had ten great-grandchildren and ten great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one great-granddaughter.
Ada was an active member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, most recently attending in Martinsville, Indiana. At the time of her death she resided at Meadow Lakes American Senior Community in Mooresville, Indiana.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 19, 2016, at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Fosdick Chapel, in Liberty with her son, Jack Schmalfeldt, officiating. Interment will follow in West Point Cemetery in Liberty. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Monday from 12:00 p.m. until time of service where memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Heart To Heart Hospice ~ 252 Meadow Drive Suit 6 ~ Danville, IN 46122 in lieu of flowers..
