Albert J. Moster, 83, of Liberty, died Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at his residence.
Albert was born on November 19, 1927 to John and Emma Obermeyer Moster in Oldenburg. Albert served in the United States Army during WWII and after returning, he began farming. In the early 1960’s, Albert and his family moved to Union County where they started the farm on US Highway 27. Albert was a member of St. Bridget’s Catholic Church and was a past board member of the Union County Co-Op. He enjoyed playing cards and was known for his regular walks along US Highway 27.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, the former Margaret Back whom he married June 10, 1950; three sons and daughters-in-law: John & Jeanne Moster of Raleigh, North Carolina; Thomas & Susanne Moster of Lauderhill, Florida; Donald & Jennifer Moster of Union County; a daughter: Sister Mary of the Sisters of St. Francis; four brothers and sisters-in-law: Bernard & Mary Moster of Brookville, Reverend Humbert Moster of Cincinnati, Ohio; Leo & Jo Anne Moster of Sunman; Anthony & Patricia Moster of Morris; three sisters: Beata Moloney; Emma Moloney, both of Erlanger, Kentucky; Catherine Frey of Batesville; sister-in-law: Kathy Moster of Harrison, Ohio, nine grandchildren: Sarah Moster, David Moster and his wife Crystal, Joseph Moster, Alex Moster, Kimberly Moster, Amy Moster, Christina Moster, Tonya Woods and her husband Marlin, Lynnette Moster; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Albert was preceded in death by a brother: Walter Moster, a sister: Anna Workman.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 12:00 noon on Saturday, June 18, 2011 at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church with Reverend Humbert Moster and Reverend John H. Luerman officiating. Interment will follow in the Calvary Cemetery where military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post 122 and VFW Post #1472, both of Liberty. Friends may visit at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Fosdick Chapel, Liberty Friday from 5 until 8:00 p.m. and after 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at the church. Rosary will be at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Bridget’s Catholic Church.
