Allan Bradley Mason, 69, of Connersville, died Tuesday morning, March 18, 2014, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Dayton, Ohio.
“Brad” was a Connersville native, born May 31, 1944 the third of five children of Lloyd Cecil and Virginia A. Jones Mason. He was a 1965 graduate of Connersville High School and was a member of the Columbia United Methodist Church. Brad served in the U.S. Army and was stationed at Arlington Heights, Illinois where he worked in the motor pool. For over 35 years, he was employed at Visteon and its predecessors as a hi-lo driver and in the warehouse , retiring in 1999. He was a member of the I.U.E., Local 919 and the Eastern Indiana 4 Wheelers. Brad enjoyed operating his ham radio under the call letters of NR9L and was a member of the Fayette County Repeaters Group and the National Association of Amateur Radio. He was a covered bridge enthusiast and enjoyed fishing.
Brad is survived by his wife, the former Kathryn J. Zoellner whom he married August 19, 1967 in Waupun, Wisconsin; his sons: Steven Bradley Mason of Connersville, Kevin Scott Mason and his wife, Jamie of Rushville; a granddaughter: Cassie Cheyenne Mason; his siblings: Clyde L. Mason and his wife, Betty; Monty L. Mason and his wife, Linda; Anita L. Kendall; Martha A. Mason, all of Fayette County; nieces and nephews.
Brad was preceded in death by his father and mother.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, with Pastor Rob Judd of the Columbia United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Dale Cemetery with military honors provided by the Fayette County Veterans Council. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday where memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Columbia United Methodist Church.
