Anna L. Paxton, 89, of Liberty died Saturday, February 1, 2014, at Sycamore Springs Rehab Center in Liberty.
Anna was born in Union County on March 13, 1924, to Cleveland and Viola Hodge Fields. She was a 1942 graduate of Alquina High School and married Charles G. Paxton on April 12, 1942 at Quakertown. Together they enjoyed over 57 years of marriage before Charles died on February 22, 2000.
Anna was a member of the Alquina Methodist Church. She also helped organize the Union County EMT Unit in 1974 and volunteered in that unit for ten years. Anna was employed by the Liberty Herald for thirty years. She and her husband raised livestock and Anna enjoyed working outside in her yard and growing flowers
Anna is survived by three daughters and their spouses: Rozella Bothast and Malcomb, Clara Dawson and Jim, and Janeen Paxton all of Liberty; eleven grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; twenty-nine great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Anna was preceded in death by her husband, six brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 6, at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Fosdick Chapel, in Liberty, with Britt Hensley officiating. Burial will follow in West Point Cemetery.
