Betty J. Saeger, 90, of Connersville, died Wednesday, July 25, 2018, at Hickory Creek in Connersville.
Betty was born in Talmage, Nebraska, October 18, 1927 to Rev. Siegfried and Josephine Marquardt Haferman. Following high school, she attended Midland College, Fremont, Nebraska and graduated from University of Nebraska in Omaha with a bachelor degree in art, education. She taught for several years before her marriage to Dean E. Saeger on October 28, 1951. He was a professional photographer and Betty was an accomplished portrait artist. Together, they owned and operated Saeger Studios in Elkhorn, Nebraska for many years. Betty supported her father’s ministry at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Elkhorn as the organist and choir director. She also attended St. James Lutheran Church in Greenfield and Peace Lutheran Church in Connersville.
Betty is survived by her children and their spouses: Mark Edward Saeger and Jamie of Pickerington, Ohio; Deanne Marie Boehmer and Mark of Connersville; her grandchildren and their spouses: Brett Alan Bubalo and Lindsay of Pendleton, Douglas James Bubalo and Michelle of Washington, Michael Dean Bubalo and Barbara of Bloomington; step-grandson: Blair Boehmer of Indianapolis; her great-grandchildren: Cole Alan, Emma Rose, Elliott Michael, Alyssa Marie, Mackenzie Leigh, Lincoln James and Roman Dean Bubalo; her siblings: Bob Haferman and his wife, Cleone; Dorothy Northrup, all of Ft. Collins, Colorado; nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years who died March 27, 2010; her brother Leonard Haferman and his wife, Janet; and her grandson: Ryan Christopher Saeger.
Private memorial services will be conducted at the convenience of the family at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville.
