Betty J. Winness, 88, of Connersville, died early Monday morning, May 9, 2011, in the emergency room at Fayette Regional Health System.
Betty was a Connersville native, born September 9, 1922, to John “Jack” and Charlotte Marie Hanson Winness. In 1940, she graduated from Connersville High School and was employed in the office at American Central. In 1984, she retired from Medco and its predecessor, National Metal Products after 39 ½ years of service. Betty was a member of the First United Methodist Church and Kappa Kappa Sigma Sorority. Betty enjoyed all the time she spent with her niece, Diana Glisson, growing up and throughout her adult life.
Betty also enjoyed the time she spent with her cousin’s children and annually entertained them with a visit to the fair. She spent her leisure time with friends, traveling, and with Diana’s dogs, Abby and Stormy.
Betty is survived by her niece: Diana Glisson of Connersville; four first cousins and their spouses: Linda Siler and John, Ron and Shirley Williams, all of Connersville, James and Diane Hanson of Fenton, Michigan, Gary Hanson and Tonie of League City, Texas, and all of their families.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Joan Lucas.
Public graveside services will be conducted on Saturday, June 11th, at 11 a.m.
at Dale Cemetery with The Rev. Dr. Clark E. Hobby of New Castle, officiating, following
cremation.
