Billie Paris, 89, of the Milton area, died Saturday, November 22, 2014, at Hickory Creek at Connersville where she had resided since July.
A Connersville native born July 24, 1925, Billie was the daughter of Lloyd and Leona Spacey Waddell. In 1943, she graduated from Connersville High School and attended business school in Richmond. Billie was employed for 32 years with the Fayette County School Corporation, beginning at Bentonville and retiring in 1991 as secretary to assistant superintendent, Dr. Richard Link. She had volunteered with the Boy Scouts of America and 4-H. Billie enjoyed animals, especially her dogs, working in her flower gardens and listening to music. She collected butterflies, clowns and most recently had assembled a collection of frogs. Billie always had a positive attitude and a fun-loving nature.
Billie is survived by her husband, Ralph E. Paris, whom she married August 30, 1972, at Grace United Methodist Church. Together, they had enjoyed extensive travel throughout the world. She is also survived by two sons and their wives: Terry Schocke and Terri of Ely, Minnesota; John Schocke and Christine of Greenwood; two grandsons: John David Schocke, Michael Schocke and his wife, Tonya, all of Greenwood; a step-grandson: John Richard Paris of Springport; three great-grandchildren: Allison, Katlyn, and Ashton Schocke; nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Billie was preceded in death by her first husband of over 20 years, Woodrow Schocke; an infant daughter: Joetta Schocke; three sisters; a half-sister: Lois McKenna; and a step-son: Ralph E. Paris, Jr.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12 noon Tuesday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville, with Pastor Robert D. “Pete” Taylor, officiating. Interment will follow in Dale Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 10 a.m. Tuesday until the time of service.
