Birdie Jean Gibson

Birdie Jean Gibson, 77, of Connersville died Saturday, August 27, 2022 at Reid Health in Richmond. Birdie was born August 20, 1945 to Harry and Marguerite Gibson. She graduated from Connersville High School with the class of 1963. Birdie was employed at the former Ford plant as a supervisor. She retired in 2003 after thirty-seven years of dedicated service. Birdie was a strong-willed woman who had triumphantly survived two battles with breast cancer. She enjoyed spending time on the computer, taking car rides, and playing bingo. Above all, Birdie loved sharing every moment with her children, grandchildren, and extended family, who will miss her dearly. Birdie is survived by her sons: Vance Gibson and Christy, Brett Gibson, Derek Gibson and Angela; grandchildren: Brettney Gibbs and Bud , Michael Gibson, Kylee Gibson, Darian Gibson, Simone Gibson, D’Kyrra Gibson; great-grandchildren: Parker Gibbs, Chesneigh Gibbs, Jensyn Gibbs, and Ari’Vaya Gibson; brother-in-law: Dennis E. Perkins Sr.; step-grandchildren: Mariah Terera, Derick Terera, Felix Steele; canine companion: Sam; several nieces, nephews and many friends. In addition to her parents, Birdie is preceded in death by her son: Joseph Fagan Jr.; brother: Melvin Fredrick Gibson; sister: Marva Jane Perkins. A celebration of life will be conducted at 1:00p.m., on Friday, September 9, 2022 at Showalter Blackwell Long, Myers Chapel, Connersville. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation in Birdie’s honor.
