Liberty, Indiana Cara Jo Montgomery, 11, of Brownsville, died Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Indiana University Health North in Carmel. The youngest daughter of Mark and Carla Mann Montgomery, Cara was born at Reid Hospital in Richmond on March 23, 2006. She attended preschool at College Corner Elementary School and was currently enrolled in sixth grade at Hoosier Academy Virtual School. Cara was an active Cadet in Girl Scouts, Troop 20242 of College Corner where she earned the Bronze and Silver Award. She loved participating in Girl Scout activities, especially selling the Girl Scout cookies. Cara was also a member of the Brookville Lakers/Special Clovers 4-H club and attended Oxford Baptist Church. She was baptized last year while attending a family retreat at Joni and Friends. Cara was a happy girl that loved all food and was known to “work for candy” when it came to school and therapy; being motivated with some of her favorite candies like M & M’s, Hershey Bars and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. Cara loved people and giving kisses. She also enjoyed swinging in her special swing and listening to upbeat music. Cara will be remembered for her beautiful smile. Cara loved the bright colors of the rainbow and the family request those attending the visitation and funeral to please wear bright colors in her memory. Cara is survived by her parents, Mark and Carla Montgomery of Brownsville; her paternal grandparents: Vance and Carol Montgomery of Richmond; her maternal grandpa: Carl Mann; her aunts: Jill Renee Montgomery, Anna Dean, Stella Mann, Karen Nabors and her husband, Ken; Joanie Clark; several cousins and family friends including: Shari Wright and family; friends from her Girl Scout Troop 20242: Hannah, Emma, Hailey, Desi, Cheyenne, Ellie and Olivia; her nurses: Sandy Seider, Robin Heavlin, Jennifer Aynes, Lynn Peters and the wonderful staff of Advantage Home Healthcare, Richmond and her therapists at Reid Health; her beloved dog: Rex. Cara is preceded in death by her sister, Sara Ann Montgomery, who died August 11, 2016; her maternal grandmother: Roseanna Mann and her uncle: Robert Dean. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 24, 2018, at Oxford Baptist Church, 4111 Trenton Oxford Road, Oxford, Ohio with Pastor Rudy Allen of Oxford Baptist Church and Pastor David Haarmeyer of East River Baptist Church, officiating. Friends may visit Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Oxford Baptist Church from 6 to 8:30 p.m., where memorial contributions may be made to the Joni and Friends Family Retreat Scholarship.
