Carl E. “Boomer” Boomershine, 85, of Hamilton, Ohio, died early Thursday morning, June 22, 2012, at Glen Meadows, Hamilton, Ohio.
Carl was born in Franklin County, Indiana, June 10, 1927 to Floyd A. and Thelma M. Kelley Boomershine. He was raised in the Whitcomb area and attended the one room school there. He was a graduate of Stewart High School in Oxford, Ohio. Carl had been employed for many years as a caretaker at Miami University, Oxford, Ohio and had previously worked at several service stations in the Oxford area. He was a member of the United Methodist Church and a member of the Oxford Volunteer Fire Department.
Carl is survived by a son: Gary Boomershine of Oxford, Ohio; a brother and sister-in-law: David L. and Bonnie Boomershine of Middletown, Ohio; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his wife: the former Rosalie Carpenter; a brother: Paul E. Boomershine; and two sisters: Patricia Rose Sayers and Norma J. Alexander.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Baker Chapel, College Corner, Ohio, with Rev. Mick Miller of the College Corner United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Big Cedar Cemetery, Franklin County. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 12 to 1 p.m. Tuesday where memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
