Carol June “Brandenburg” Jensen, 86, formerly of Brownsville, died on Saturday, January 9, 2016, at Enloe Medical Center in Chico, CA.
Carol was born in Union County on Tuesday, April 2, 1929, to William and Isabelle Funk Brandenburg and spent her early years on the family farm. Her family moved to Brownsville where she attended high school. Carol married Quincy Honaker in 1946 and had two children, Deby and Dennis. In 1956 her family moved to California but her heart was always in Indiana and her wish was to be buried in the Brandenburg Section of the Brownsville United Methodist Church Cemetery. She was employed as an inspector for over 30 years for Bendix in Sylmar, California, producing components for submarines. Carol loved to crochet, play bingo, cook, garden, and sing “Back home again in Indiana”.
Carol is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Floyd Jensen of California; a son Dennis J. Honaker of California; a step-daughter, Renee Jensen; two sisters: Marie Brown of Florida and Louise Stinson and husband Ernest of Brownsville; a brother, Lowell Brandenburg and wife Marilyn of Brownsville; five grandchildren who will miss her dearly; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Carol was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Deby Honaker; and brothers Earl and Donald Brandenburg.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 20, 2016, at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Fosdick Chapel, in Liberty. Interment will follow in Brownsville United Methodist Church Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2:00 p.m.. until time of service where memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s choice of charity.
