Carolyn L. Hiatt, 69, of Liberty died on Thursday, January 5, 2017, at Reid Health in Richmond.
Carolyn was born in Greensburg, on January 6, 1947, to Walter K. and Betty Lucille Henderson Johnson. She was a 1966 graduate of Connersville High School and attended Amber’s Beauty School in Muncie. Carolyn married Randy Hiatt on August, 8, 1981. In addition to working as a hair dresser earlier in her life, Carolyn began working in Union County- College Corner Joint School District cafeteria as a cook in 1994 and retired in 2012. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, being a beautician.
In addition to her husband of thirty-five years, Carolyn is survived by four children and spouses: Gregg Price and Nikki of Milton, Donald Hiatt and Lauren of Liberty; Melissa Rodefer and Andy of Eldorado, OH, and Randi James of Rushville; two sisters: Gloria Doub and husband, Marvin of Connersville and Debbie McCreary of Cincinnati; a brother: Ken Johnson and wife, Esther of Maryville, TN; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Donald and Jeannine Hiatt of Richmond; eight grandchildren: Vinton and Lane James, Abbey Rodefer, Emily Price, Benjamin Price, David and Gracelynn Hiatt, and Logan Price; three nieces and three nephews. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, a brother-in-law Rick McCreary, and a nephew, David Bush.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, January 10, 2017, at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Fosdick Chapel, in Liberty, with Rev. Dana Hadden of the Hanna’s Creek Church officiating. Cremation will follow. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service where memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s choice of charity.
