Carolyn J. Wright

Carolyn J. Wright, 78, of Connersville, died Wednesday afternoon, August 21, 2013, at Fayette Regional Health System. A Union County native, Carolyn was born September 2, 1934 to Thomas and Lillian Whipple Gruell. She graduated from Connersville High School with the class of 1952 and was a member of St. Gabriel Church. On December 26, 1955, she married John Wright at St. Gabriel Church. She had been employed in Connersville at PN Hirsch, Hooks Drugs and Mr. Pizza. Carolyn was a former member of the Eagles Auxiliary and cherished the time she spent with her family and grandchildren. Carolyn is survived by her husband of over 57 years; her children: Lisa Brown; Kevin Wright and his wife, Melody, all of Connersville; four grandchildren: Joey Wright and his wife, Crystal; Benjamin Brown, Lacey Wright and Nichole Wright, all of Connersville; three great-grandchildren: Branson, Maxwell and James Wright; two sisters: Sonya Gruell of Hagerstown; Sue Walker and her husband, Dale of Union County; nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her brother: Bobby Gruell and her sister: Verna Mae Retherford. Funeral services for Carolyn will be conducted at 12 noon Monday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville with Rev. Stanley Herber of St. Gabriel Church officiating. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery, Garden of Memories near Lyonsville. Friends may visit at the funeral home for 10 a.m. Monday until the time of service.
