Carroll E. “Tex” James, Sr., of Connersville, died late Sunday night, November 9, 2014, at Fayette Regional Health Systems.
Tex, a Connersville native was born October 7, 1946 to Walter K. and June Kendall James and attended Connersville area schools where he later received his General Education Diploma. On February 24, 1968 Tex was married to the former Edith McFarland. He worked at Connersville High School as a custodian until his retirement. Tex greatly enjoyed his grandchildren and the time they spent together. He also enjoyed crossword puzzles.
Tex is survived by his wife of 46 years, Edith McFarland James; his sons: Carroll E. James, Jr.; Fredrick P. James; his grandchildren: Cameron James; Courtney James; Carter James; his brothers: Walter James, Jr.; Patrick James; all of Connersville; his sisters: Carolyn Davisson and her husband, Donald of Kentucky; Annabelle Emswiller of Middletown, Indiana; Jenelle James of Connersville; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Tex was preceded in death by his sister: Marilyn Quantz.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, with Donald Davisson, Tex’s brother in law, officiating. Interment will follow in Dale Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday where memorial contributions may be to ALS.
