Cecil Monroe Jolley, 76, of Eaton, Ohio, died Friday, June 15, 2012, at McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital, Oxford, Ohio.
Cecil was a native of Lee County, Virginia, born May 20, 1936 to James and Gladys Estep Jolley. In 1954, he graduated from Stuart High School in Oxford. He was married to the former Beatrice White on December 12, 1956 in College Corner. Cecil had been employed at Miami University for fourteen years and was a meat cutter at Krogers until 1984. For ten years, he managed the Tulsa Tennis Club, Tulsa, Oklahoma. Prior to his retirement, he was employed at the Tritech Facility in Eaton, Ohio. Cecil was an active member of the Sommerville Baptist Church for over 55 years where he was currently serving as deacon and music director. In addition to the church, he most enjoyed his time with his grandchildren and organizing family events.
Cecil is survived by his wife of of over 55 years; four daughters and their spouses: Gail Gilbert and Amos of Gratis, Ohio, Patty Guthrie and Tim of Eaton, Ohio, Sandy Cason and Mike of Oxford, Ohio, Teresa Faber and Frank of Hamilton, Ohio; five grandchildren: Joe Jolley and his wife, Justeen of Kenosha, Wisconsin; Joshua and Brian Bommer, both of Hamilton, Ohio; Luke Cason of Oxford, Ohio; Jade Guthrie of Eaton, Ohio; three great-grandchildren: Sydney, Colton and McKenna Jolley; nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Cecil was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Barrett.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, June 18, 2012, at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Baker Chapel, College Corner, Ohio. Interment will follow in College Corner Cemetery, West College Corner, Indiana. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday where memorial contributions may be made to the Sommerville Baptist Church.
