Charles "Pat" Patterson

Charles “Pat” Patterson, 79, of Connersville, went to be with the Lord Thursday morning, March 28, 2013, surrounded by his family at his home. A Connersville native, Charles was born on March 17, 1934, the son of Clyde, Sr. and Mary M. Stevens Patterson and attended Connersville schools. On March 7, 1959, he was married in Connersville to the former Clara M. Toach. Charles was a member of the Indiana National Guard for two years prior to his induction in the U.S. Army. In 1960, he was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army Reserve as a Specialist 5. Charles had been employed at H. H. Robertson from 1960 until they closed in 1985. He then worked at Knauf Fiberglass in Shelbyville from 1986 until his retirement in 2002. Charles was a member of the Bethel Apostolic Church, the American Legion Post #1 and Voiture 1040 of 40 et 8. he also. Charles bowled in the American Legion Bowling League and enjoyed vacationing in Florida, camping, and was an avid fan of the Indianapolis Colts. Charles is survived by his wife of 54 years; his sons: John; Todd and his wife, Kim; David and his wife, Terri, all of Connersville; his grandchildren: Holly Patterson of Murfreesboro, TN; Matt McQueen and his wife, Amber; Jazmine Patterson, Jacob Patterson, all of Connersville; great-grandchildren: Payne McQueen and Serenity McQueen; several nieces, nephews and many friends. In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by a son: Bobby; and three brothers: Carrol, Clyde Jr. and Donald Patterson. Public graveside memorial services for Charles will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at Dale Cemetery with Reverend Tom Roach of Franklin, OH officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Fayette County Veterans Council. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fayette County Cancer Society or to Fayette Regional Hospital System Hospice.
