Charles N. Poe Sr., 69, of Liberty, died Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at Reid Hospital in Richmond.
Charles was born September 5, 1942 in Columbus, Ohio to Norman and Lillian Sullivan Poe. Charles and his wife, Jean, owned and operated the Triangle Gun and Bait Shop for over 18 years. He had previously been employed at Miami University on the grounds and maintenance crew and Capital Varsity restoring football equipment. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, and attending auctions. Charles was a member of the American Legion Post #122.
Survivors include: his wife, Jean Poe; seven children and their spouses: Charles N. Poe, Jr. and Michelle, of College Corner, Ohio; Sherry Rose; Peter Sorrentino, both of Hamilton, Ohio; Stephanie Groh and Jon, of Fairfield, Ohio; Teresa Kostalansky and Joe, of Seattle, Washington; Linda Sorrentino, of Fairfield, Ohio; Joann Sorrentino of Fairfield, Ohio; sister and brother-in-law: Norma Greenwalt and Jim, of Troy, Ohio; eleven grandchildren: Dustin Nichols, William Nichols, Krista Nichols, Thomas Eickelberger and his wife Jennifer, Leslie Eickelberger, Alexandrea Sorrentino, Elizabeth Howard, Abigail Kostalansky, Sarah Byrd, Emma Byrd, and Augie Groh; four great-grandchildren: Adrianna Mahlerwein, Lorelei Poe, Maggie Eickelberger and Wrenlie Eickelberger.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents and two great-grandchildren, Kailee Walters and Charlie Poe.
Memorial services will be conducted at 6 p.m. Monday, March 5, 2011 at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Fosdick Chapel in Liberty, with Rob Judd of Old Franklin United Methodist Church officiating. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service, where memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association.
