Charlie R. "Unk" Uncapher

Charlie R. “UNK” Uncapher, 85, of Connersville, died Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at Heritage House of Connersville. Charlie was born July 25, 1938 in Madison, Kansas to Daniel and Willa Patterson Uncapher. His father helped build the oil pipeline during WWII, beginning in Oklahoma and stopped in Greensburg, then got a factory job in Connersville. That is how Charlie came to be a lifelong resident of this area. He was a member of the Moose Lodge #1160, Fraternal Order of Eagles #1065, Connersville AmVets Club and the Gettysburg Sportsmans Club. Charlie was a 1958 graduate of Connersville High School. He drove heavy equipment for R.H. Bowling and also worked with cement. Charlie was a long time member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 1393, retiring as a Power Line Contractor. He enjoyed Turkey Shoots, camping, fishing and playing his harmonica. Charlie is survived by his son Rick Venable of Panama City, Florida; niece, Shanon (Matthew) Tinch of Connersville; brother John H. (Margaret) Uncapher of Laurinburg, North Carolina; three grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Mike Uncapher; brothers, Billy Ray, Marshall, J.D., Harold and Ed Uncapher; sisters, Lola Demoret, Annabelle Fields, Dorothy LaMaster, Marilyn Sue Beals and Betty Jo Uncapher; and his “wonder dog” Casey, his constant companion. Memorial contributions may be made to Fayette County Animal Shelter. Visitation for Charlie R. “UNK” Uncapher will be 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, 920 N. Central Ave., Connersville Indiana. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Dale Cemetery.
