Christine Johnson, 83, of Liberty, died Monday, November 10, 2014, at McCullough Hyde Hospital in Oxford.
Christine was born in Powell County, Clay City, Kentucky, on Wednesday, July 1, 1931, to Charles and Ora Ethel Brooks Means. She married Delmar Lee Johnson on December 17, 1955, in Clay City, Kentucky. Christine was employed at Square D in Oxford for 24 years retiring on January 31, 1997. She enjoyed planting flowers.
In addition to her husband of fifty-nine years, Christine is survived by, two sons: Douglas Lee Johnson and wife Helen of Oxford, and David Wayne Johnson of College Corner; a daughter, Dianna Davis and husband Terry of Liberty; five grandchildren: Christina, Jessica, David, Charles, and Jimmie; eight great-grandchildren; one brother Frank Means of Winchester, KY; and several nieces and nephews.
Christine was preceded in death by her parents; seven brothers: Corbin, Charles, Walker, Orbin, Lee, Delbert and Stanley Means; and three sisters: Ruby Townsend, Marie Dennis, and Ailene Byrd.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 14, at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Baker Chapel, in College Corner, with Rev. Randy Gentry and Rev. Rex Clark officiating. Interment will follow in College Corner Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 12:00 noon Friday until time of service where memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s choice.
