Daisy I. Doerflein, 89, formerly of Liberty, died Tuesday, May 26, 2015, at Lincoln Centers-East in Connersville.
Daisy was born February 28, 1926 in Manchester, Kentucky to John and Adeline Burch Clark and lived most of her adult life in the Liberty area. She was a very active member of the Liberty Pentecostal Church where she played guitar and sang. Daisy also composed her own songs and had been offered a recording contract. She had been employed as a private duty nurse primarily in Union County and had worked as a certified nursing assistant at the former Park Manor Nursing Home in Liberty.
Daisy is survived by her children and their spouses: Peggy Ann Calihan and Danny of Franklin County; Gary Lee Doerflein and Judy, Janet S. Kunkel and Donald, all of Connersville; her grandchildren that she dearly loved: Shannon Sidell of Richmond, Shane Sidell and his wife, Michelle of Rising Sun, Chris Doerflein and his wife, Annette; Renee Doerflein, all of Connersville; two step-daughters: Phyllis Henry and Susan Creech, both of Connersville; three step-granddaughters and their husbands: Tina Calihan, Gina Davidson and Brett, Angie Stegnar and Darin; fourteen great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren with another expected soon; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Daisy was preceded in death by her first husband: Virgil Doerflein; her second husband: Charles Creech; two sisters: Ella Lackey and Viola Schuler; four brothers: George, Elsie, Charles and Jackie Clark.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Fosdick Chapel, Liberty, with Pastor Tom Marshall of the Blooming Grove Worship Center officiating. Interment will follow in West Point Cemetery, Liberty. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 12 noon Friday until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to Indiana University Alzheimer Research.
