Connersville resident, Dallas D. Mitchell, 83, died Monday, January 21, 2019 in Kissimmee, Florida, surrounded by his loving family.
Dallas was a native of Connersville, born February 25, 1935 to Floyd and Ruth Holmes Mitchell and graduated from Connersville High School in 1953. He received many awards as an accomplished saxophonist and played in local bands. He had been employed at Design and Manufacturing from 1961 to 1997. In his leisure time, Dallas enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing and camping. He liked to tell stories and make people laugh with his keen sense of humor. On September 26, 1954, Dallas married the former Sally Floyd at the First United Methodist Church in Connersville. They had resided in the same house in Connersville for 62 years. Dallas always enjoyed collecting his antiques and saying, “I have one of those at home, too.” Most recently, he took great pride his 1965 Chevy Impala convertible which he owned since 1970.
In addition to his wife of 64 years, Dallas is survived by his children and their spouses: Mike Mitchell and Karla ; Randy Mitchell and Rita; Doug Mitchell and Tonya, all of Connersville; Mychel “Mickey” Mitchell, Krista Tressler and Dave, all of Melbourne, FL; Steve Mitchell and Lynn of Kissimmee, FL; Dennis Mitchell of Florida; his grandchildren: Michael Mitchell, Jr.; Misty Ross, Kristy Nichols, Josh Weaver, Kara Gibbs, Tyler Oglesby, Ryan Friend, Derek Friend, Kyle Tressler, Katelyn Mitchell, Kenley Mitchell, Nicolette Mitchell, Stevi Schramm, Erick Ison, Justin Ison, Alyssa Mitchell, Dylan Mitchell, Greg Mitchell, Kelly Mitchell, Alex Mitchell, Elizabeth Mitchell, William Mitchell; 30 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandson. In addition to his parents, Dallas was preceded in death by his son Robert Mitchell.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, February 4, 2019, at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville. Interment will follow in Dale Cemetery.
