Dane R. Good, 79, of Connersville, died Monday evening, July 8, 2013, at Fayette Regional Hospital.
Born in Fayette County on February 5th, 1934 to Delva Good and Leona Cullins Good, Dane graduated from Connersville High School, and attended Ball State University.
On January 4, 1969, Dane married Jean Good, who preceded him in death on April 12, 2010. Dane was a real estate broker in Connersville for many years before retiring. Being an avid sports fan, Dane enjoyed attending the Spartan and Butler basketball games for as long as his health permitted. He was also a Colts fan. Dane especially loved spending time with his family and attending the practice sessions and sports events played by his great-grandsons. He enjoyed bowling, traveling and being on the water, and for many years owned a houseboat on the Ohio River and later on Brookville Lake. In his later years, he enjoyed sharing meals and visiting with friends to debate about sports events. Dane was a member of Grand Avenue United Methodist Church.
Dane is survived by his children: Debbie Golden of Noblesville, Pam Himelick of Connersville, Terry Good and wife, Carla, of New Palestine, Becky Neal and husband, DeWayne, of Connersville, Jeff Good and wife, Jane, of Colorado, and Chris Good of Michigan; his sisters: Donna Leonard of California, Joanna Childers of Greensburg, Judy Callahan and husband, Ellis, of Florida, Jackie Strohmier and husband, Joe, of Florida; grandchildren: Shea Caldwell and husband, Chad, John Golden and wife, Erin, Tom Neal, Terri Helmsing and husband, Jason, Samantha Lantz and husband, Andrew, Keegan and Delaney Good and Emily and Sydney Good; great-grandchildren: Paxton Caldwell, Peyton Caldwell, Layne Golden, Mason Good, and Ethan Helmsing; several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his special friends and caretakers, Anita and Paul Wildridge.
In addition to his parents Dane was preceded in death by his wife: Jean Good; his brothers: Jim Good, Eugene Good, and Paul Good and sisters: Virginia Hamilton and Betty Suman.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Monday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville, with Pastor Kara Bussabarger of Grand Avenue United Methodist Church officiating. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 1 o'clock until the time of the service, where memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
