Darrell Lee McIntyre, 57, of Connersville died Sunday morning, August 28, 2016 at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis.
Darrell, the son of John C. and Lucy Gaddis McIntyre, was born in Connersville, June 9, 1959. In 1979, he graduated from Connersville High School. Darrell was employed at Visteon for eighteen years and previously had been employed at Neal’s Landscaping. Darrell attended First Church of the Nazarene in Connersville. Darrell loved his constant companions, his Labradors, Kensie and Yelly. He also enjoyed all sports, fishing and being with his friends. Darrell will be remembered as “Dad” to all the neighborhood kids and for his appreciation of life.
Darrell is survived by his siblings and their spouses: Brice R. McIntyre and Vickie; Claudetta Bentley and Ernest; Robert J. McIntyre and Effie; Pam Fields and Chris, all of Connersville; his nieces and nephews: Angel and Amy Smith, Pam Shaw, Tim Bentley, December and Christopher McIntyre, Heather Landrum, Ashley McFall, Christopher Fields; great nieces and nephews.
Darrell is preceded in death by his parents; his paternal grandparents: Joseph and Laura Mitchell McIntyre; his maternal grandparents: Edna J. Ward and Merle Gaddis.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday, September 2, 2016 at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville with Pastor Randy Sherwood of the First Church of the Nazarene, officiating. Interment will follow in Dale Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. where memorial contributions may be made to drug awareness.
