Darvin Barrett, 86, of Connersville, died September 14, 2017 at his residence after a brief illness.
The son of Sam and Bessie Barrett, Darvin was born November 24, 1930, in Oakland, Pike County, Indiana and attended area schools including two years of college education. In February of 1950, Darvin enlisted in the United States Army and served during the Korean War as combat engineer focused in demolition with the 18th Engineer Battalion, Germany. Following his honorable discharge from the military in 1953, Darvin was organized and consistently immaculate, leading him to begin a career in carpentry. During this time, he resided in numerous states from Florida to Oklahoma. Most recently, he had been employed as a security guard at Champion Coated Paper Mill in Hamilton, Ohio. Darvin was a member of Deliverance Tabernacle. In his leisure time, Darvin enjoyed simply being outside to appreciate the beauty nature offers. He will be remembered for his pleasant personality and his generous, helping hand.
Darvin is survived by his children and their spouses: Boone Barrett and Patricia of Connersville; Dee Sturgeon and Brian; Cindy Brannon and Clarence, all of Liberty; his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, foster grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
