David L. McDaniel, age 74, passed away November 27, 2016 at St. Vincent Hospital, surrounded by his family, following a lengthy illness.
David was born in Rochester, Indiana to Jessie and Ercie Davis McDaniel on May 10, 1942. He lived the majority of his life in Union County and graduated from Short High School. David enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving his country from December 1963 until December 1967. David worked at Dana Corp in Richmond, Indiana, retiring after forty-two years of service. He was a member of the American Legion Post 122 and the V.F.W. Post 1472, both in Liberty, Indiana. David loved his family and enjoyed their family gatherings. His hobbies were fishing, hunting and golfing. He also loved working outside with his dogs Waylon and Merle and had a passion for life.
Survivors include his wife: Juanita McDaniel; his daughter: Crescent Caldwell and her husband, Brian; his son: Chance McDaniel; his stepson: Keith Simpson; his brother: Jess McDaniel and his wife, Marilyn; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
David was preceded in death by his parents: Jesse and Ercie McDaniel; four sisters and brothers-in-law: Hazel and Carl Ross; Lena and Harlan Brewer; Rose and Charlie Hurst; Betty and Robert "Junior" Ray; one brother and sister-in-law: Harold Sr. and Letha McDaniel.
A Memorial Service will be conducted at the convenience of the family at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the I.U. Simon Cancer Center, Indianapolis, Indiana.
