Reverend Dawn A Gold, 63, of Liberty passed away peacefully on September 9, 2016, at Community Hospital East in Indianapolis, Indiana Dawn A. Gold was born on August 6, 1953 in Morristown, New Jersey to John and Muriel Parsons Gold. She graduated from Westport Road High School in Louisville Kentucky in 1971. Dawn was a competition swimmer with the Westport and Plantation Country Club of Louisville Kentucky. She graduated from University of Kentucky with a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work. She is a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha Fraternity (Zeta does not refer to itself as a sorority). Dawn graduated from the Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary with her Master of Divinity degree in 1978. She was ordained as a Minister at the Taylorville, Illinois First Presbyterian Church on November 25, 1979. She remained there as the assistant Pastor until February 1985. From there she became the Pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in Virden, Illinois. Reverend Gold became the Pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in Liberty in April, 1993 and remained as Pastor for 21 years. Due to health issues, Dawn resigned in May of 2014. Dawn Gold was the most accepting, open minded, caring human being ever known by mankind. Her charitable works, her work with youth groups were simply incredible. She is beloved by many, will be mourned by all. Dawn had a great love for animals and became the Adoptive Mother to many homeless cats as well as one dog, her beloved Fido. Dawn is survived by her brother: David Gold and his wife Alberta (Jones), of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, and their 5 children, George, Darren, Theresa, Courtney, and Dallas as well as their 9 grandchildren; one brother in law: Michael Evans of Louisville Kentucky and his 2 children, Terry and Mindy. She is also survived by her family of choice, a mismatched brood that called her sister, aunt, and friend. These include all of the Sheaff family, her adopted daughter and granddaughter, her adopted nephew, as well as the sisters of her heart. Dawn is survived by her four precious felines as well. She is survived and mourned by many in her church family, as well as predeceased by many of the same. Dawn was preceded in death by her parents: two sisters: Janet B. Gold and Joanne M. (Gold) Evans. Graveside services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 15, 2016, at West Point Cemetery in Liberty with Richard Worcester officiating. Immediately after the graveside service, there will be a reception at the First Presbyterian Church at 103 E. Union Street in Liberty. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Rev. Dawn Gold’s life. Friends may visit at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Fosdick Chapel, in Liberty, on Wednesday, September 14, 2016, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. where in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Adopt A Dog in Liberty, in care of Cherryll Hoffman ~ P.
