Della Reece

Della Reece, 92, of Connersville, died Tuesday, August 13, 2013, at Hickory Creek of Connersville. Della was born in Lee County, Kentucky, August 11, 1921, to Scott and Ollie Rankins Mays. On August 13, 1942, she was married in Beattyville, KY to Fred Reece. They moved to Connersville in 1949 and were active members of the Full Gospel Holiness Church. Della was a devoted wife and mother and had been employed in the laundry at Fayette Memorial Hospital, Lamberts Furniture and as a lunch lady at Waterloo School. She loved being with her family and was a ‘Prayer Warrior’ for everyone. Della is survived by her children and their spouses: William Earl Brandenburg and Kay of Connersville, Eugene Reece and Barbara of Milton, Virginia Day-Ables and Roy of Eaton, Ohio; Loreda Oliver and Hargis, Jr.; Juanita Reece, all of Connersville; Wayne Reece and Sandy of Glendale, Arizona; Anida Fox and Larry of Connersville; Zendell Reece and Patty of Springersville; her brother: David Mays of Richmond; 38 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews In addition to her parents, Della is preceded in death by her first husband: Dorsey Brandenburg; her second husband: Fred Reece; three step-sons: Fred, Jr., Charles and Earl Reece; a step-daughter: Mildred Sizemore; two brothers, four sisters, three grandchildren and a great-grandson. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville, with Rev. Ronnie Steele officiating. Interment will follow at Abington Cemetery in Wayne County. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday where memorial contributions may be made to PTC Ministries Food Bank.
