Denver Earl Wells, 85, of Connersville, died Saturday, May 30, 2015, at Lincoln Centers-East in Connersville where he had resided since December 2014.
Denver was a native of Knox County, Kentucky, born January 22, 1930, to Dallas Clyde and Mary Leola Pope Wells. He was a 1950 graduate of Brookville High School and served in the U.S. Army while stationed in Hawaii and Trieste, Italy for four years. On August 20, 1954, he was married in Blooming Grove to the former Juanita Goins who died November 3, 2000. Together they had owned and operated Wells Fabric and Sewing Center for over thirty years. Denver attended church at Blooming Grove and also had attended Western Avenue Baptist Church. He was a member of Warren Lodge # 15, F. & A.M., Connersville and Scottish Rite, Indianapolis. Denver enjoyed collecting antique clocks and working on his farm.
Denver is survived by his daughter: Rebecca Ruth Wells of Connersville; two grandsons: Chandler Michael Featherstone and Logan Wayne Featherstone; his 106 year old Mother: Mary Leola “Lola” Wells of Cincinnati; his sister: Wilma Ruth Benedict of Cincinnati; his sister-in-law: Carolyn Goins of Connersville; nephews: Ronald and Roger Wells, both of Connersville; nieces: Elaine Painter and Josette Binder, both of Cincinnati; and many great-nieces and nephews.
Denver was preceded in death by his Father; his wife of over 46 years; his brother: Willie J. Wells; and his brother-in-law: Dale Benedict.
Private funeral services will be conducted at the convenience of the family at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville, with Rev. Jerry Rader officiating. Interment will follow in Dale Cemetery with military graveside honors presented by the Fayette County Veterans Council.
