Don Treadway, 73, of Bath died Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at Dearborn County Hospital.
The son of William Jackson and Eugenia Bailey Treadway, Don was born March 13, 1943 in North Vernon, Jennings County. Don was a 1961 graduate of Union High School, College Corner and enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served on the U.S.S. Eaton, as a Seaman First Class. Following his honorable discharge, Don returned home to operate the family farm. He continued to farm in Union and Bath Townships his entire life. He also owned and operated Treadway Motors. On December 21, 1963, Don married the former, Sue Widau. Don was very instrumental working with his hands and will be remembered for his ability to fix, remodel or build anything. He built their pond, a cabin for his grandchildren and the stage for the bluegrass concerts performed on most Sundays. Don was an avid fan of bluegrass music. He especially enjoyed attending his grandchildren's extracurricular activities. Above all, Don loved his wife and family and lived to please them. In the winters, Don enjoyed spending the days with his wife in Palm Harbor, Florida.
In addition to his wife of fifty-three years, Sue, Don is survived by his children and their spouses: Todd Treadway and Rachel; Tara Niehoff and David, all of Bath; Troy Treadway and Carrie of West College Corner; his grandchildren: Kayla Means and her husband, Brent; Nate Treadway; Ryan Niehoff, all of Bath; Emily Treadway of West College Corner; his great-granddaughter: Avery Means of Bath; his siblings and their spouses: Ann Peters and Paul of Danville; Alyce McCormick; Harold Treadway and Sandy, all of Versailles; Larry Treadway and Linda of Scipio.
Don is preceded in death by his parents and his grandson: Wyatt Treadway.
Friends may visit Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Fosdick Chapel, Liberty where memorial contributions may be made to the donor's charity of choice, In Memory of Don Treadway.
