Donald “DK” Bales, 51, of Connersville, died Monday evening, September 3, 2018, at St. Vincent Hospice, Indianapolis.
DK was born January 9, 1967, in Virginia Beach, Virginia, the son of Donald K. Bales, Sr. He attended Princess Ann High School there and had perfect attendance for twelve years. DK had been employed at area restaurants and had helped his Father with rental units and carpet cleaning. For the past ten years, DK was employed at Connersville Kroger where he was widely known as the “Mayor of Krogers.” He loved to dance, mow grass, fry chicken and was an avid Washington Redskins football fan. DK was always available to help and was often the first to initiate the needed action. Visits with his Aunt Sally was a daily priority. Jill Roberts became DK’s parent following the death of his father to the extent that Jill’s son, Logan Seale, considered DK his brother.
DK’s survivors include his aunt: Sally Bales of Connersville; his cousins: Jill Roberts, Don Bales and his wife, Theresa; Tammy Bales, all of Connersville; John Clifton and his wife, Cindy of Escondido, California; many special friends, including: Debbie Brown Sparks, and Daryl Seale, both of Connersville.
DK was preceded in death by his father, his Uncle Bill Bales, several aunts, uncles and cousins, including Bob, Gary and Danny Bales, and Mary Clifton Oliver.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12 noon Saturday, September 8, 2018, at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville. Interment will follow in section L at Dale Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday where memorial contributions may be made to a scholarship established in DK’s memory.
