Donald E. Wilson, 83, of Connersville, died Friday morning, July, 19, 2013, surrounded by his family.
Donald was born in Detroit, Michigan, July 3rd, 1930, to Virgil J. and Christina Herbert Wilson and graduated in 1949 from Alquina High School. On July 3rd, 1949, he married the former Nancy R. Hines in Connersville. Donald was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local # 1393 and had owned and operated Wilson Electric for many years. For thirteen years, he was employed with Public Service in Connersville. He also drove a Fayette County school bus for several years. Donald and Nancy both enjoyed their time as caretakers at St. Gabriel School and Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Eagles and Moose Lodges, all in Connersville. Donald enjoyed fishing, playing bingo, reading, traveling, and most of all, spending time with his family.
Donald is survived by his seven daughters and their spouses: Linda Higgs, Pam Noah and Donald, Donna Hinds and Tim, Sheryl Ronan and Lewy, Diana Wright and Terry, Sue Mitchell and Steve, Lisa Harrison and Lee, all of Connersville; his sister-in-law: Barbara Wilson of Connersville; 15 grandchildren including Sarah Mitchell, who looked after his every need; 25 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Nancy, who died July 3rd, 2002; two grandchildren: Jeffery J. Lewark and Jennifer K. Bowles; three brothers: Russell, James, and Wayne Wilson; and a sister: Mary Ellen McDaniel.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville, with Father Glenn O’Conner of Plainfield officiating. Interment will follow in Dale Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday where memorial contributions may be made to the Bentonville Volunteer Fire Department.
