Donna Wing Powell, 80, Connersville, went to be with her Lord and life eternal, Thursday, March 31, 2016, at Heritage House of Connersville.
Donna was born in Connersville April 29, 1935, to Elsworth Monroe and Leona Showalter Wing. In 1953, she graduated from Connersville High School and on August 8th of that year, she was married in Rushville to Ray Kenneth “Kenny” Powell. Donna was employed for many years at Visteon and its predecessors. Faith was very important to her and she was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She also belonged to the Daughters of Rebekah. Donna enjoyed socializing and playing cards with friends. She loved to sew and was an avid reader. Donna’s most enjoyment was her family and the time she spent with them.
Donna is survived by her children and their spouses: David Powell and Rebeca of Summerville, South Carolina; Steve Powell and Debbie; Kim Powell, all of Connersville; Chris Powell and Ramona of Bloomington. Minnesota; her grandchildren: Aubrey Grooms, Carson Powell, Katie Powell, Lindsey Bechtold, Graham Freeman, Madelyn Freeman; her great-grandchildren: Landon Dandridge, Abby Mae Grooms and Leyton Grooms; nieces and nephews
In addition to her parents, Donna was preceded in death by her husband of over 54 years, who passed away February 1, 2008; two sons: Rick and Bob Powell; and four siblings: Thaila Neal, Shirley Fishback, Darrel and Victor Wing.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville, with Pastor Knox Bullock of the Woodland Bible Church, officiating. Interment will follow in section K of Dale Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Community Christian School Music Program or to the Fayette County Senior Center Bingo Fund.
