Dorothy J. Henry, 90, of Brownsville, died Tuesday afternoon, January 29th, 2013 at Reid Hospital in Richmond.
Dorothy was born in Preble County, Ohio on June, 30th, 1922 to Elvin and Sally Taylor Richardson. On October 3, 1968, Dorothy was married in Brownsville to James J. Henry who died November 13, 2005. She had worked for a short time at Capitol Dry Cleaners in Oxford, Ohio. Dorothy attended the Maple Grove Baptist Church near Liberty and was a member of the Crazy Quilt Campers. She enjoyed spending time with her family, eating out and was an avid collector of items with red birds.
Dorothy is survived by her children and their spouses: Marilyn Bucher of Richmond, Peggy Huntington and Duane of Centerville, Duane Sorrell and Shelley of Brownsville; grandchildren and their spouses: Rae Jean Grimes and Steve of Englewood, OH; Dea Messler and Tony of Richmond, Beth Evans and Butch of Centerville, David Crist and Debby of Goshen, Stephanie Wright and Mike of Centerville, Tosha Ross and Jake of Liberty, Cody Sorrell of Brownsville, Shannon Brown and Andy of Centerville, Jason Sorrell of Liberty; great-grandchildren: Justin Grimes and his wife, Angie, Jeremy Grimes, Amanda Yates, Kara Messler, Melissa Crawford and her husband, Zach, Brent Evans and his wife, Courtney, Brooke Evans, Courtney, Conner, Curstin Crist, Megan Huntington, Grace Wright, Gabe Sorrell, Chloe and Lane Brown; her daughter-in-law: Jackoe Sorrell of Liberty; several nieces, nephews and special friends, including Margaret Lamb.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy is preceded in death by her first husband Chester Sorrell, who died in March of 1965, her second husband, James J. Henry, two sons: Keith and Larry Sorrell; son-in-law: John Bucher; sister: Opal Jones; brother: Lloyd Richardson; granddaughter: Shelby Sorrell.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Fosdick Chapel, Liberty, with Reverend James Foreman officiating. Interment will follow in West Point Cemetery, Liberty. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday where memorial contributions may be made to the Area 9 Meal Program.
