Dorothy I. Waddell, 91, of Connersville, died early Thursday morning, April 4, 2013, at Fayette Regional Health System.
Dorothy was born July 15, 1921 in Raymond, Union County to Ralph Nathan and Katherine Rockwell Rogers. She attended school in Wayne County and had worked at REX Manufacturing during WWII. Prior to that, she had worked at W.T. Grant in New York as the window designer. Dorothy devoted her time to her family while living in Bath, Raymond, Brookville, Richmond and Connersville. She liked to go fishing at Laurel Feeder Dam, cooking, organizing cookouts and caring for her cats.
Dorothy is survived by her children and their spouses: Kenneth Bottorff and Eleanor of Richmond; Jennie Teas and Charlie of Mayflower, Arkansas; Bradley Waddell and Diane of Connersville; Bruce Waddell of Gainesville, Florida; Brian Waddell of Gainesville, Texas; Barry Waddell and Sue, Jolene Smith and Bobby, Barton Waddell and Sherry, all of Connersville; eighteen grandchildren, including Doug Wissler and his wife, Sharon of Bloomington, Illinois; thirty-six great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces, including Joyce Ann Bryant and her husband, Reggie of Richmond and Martha Richardson and her husband, Ray of Center, North Carolina.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her first husband: Ernest Bottorff; her second husband: Bert Waddell, who died in 1984; and four brothers: Vernon, Clarence, Walter and Harold Rogers.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville, with her son-in-law, Bobby Smith, officiating. Interment will follow in Dale Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 12 noon Monday until the time of service where memorial contributions may be made to the Fayette County Animal Shelter.
