Douglas Kent Wissler

Former Connersville resident, Douglas Kent Wissler was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Doug left this earth for his heavenly home on Monday, November 27, 2023, after a very long fight with cancer. Doug was born, November 28, 1963, to his mother Jennie Wissler and father Dennis Wissler. He graduated from Connersville High School with the class of 1982 and Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana with the class of 1991. Doug worked for twenty-nine years at State Farm Insurance in Bloomington, Illinois in accounting and finance. Survivors include his mother, Jennie Wissler of Peru, Indiana; his father: Dennis (Rosa)Wissler of Cambridge City; His wonderful wife of 32 years, Sharon Wissler of Bloomington, Illinois. Children: Nathan and Sarah Bates of Fairland, Indiana; Kyle and Brittany Wissler of St. Louis, Missouri and Tyler Wissler of Dallas, Texas and brother: Chad Wissler and Hannah of Cambridge City, Indiana. Grandchildren: Rylend and Landon Bates, Archer Wissler, mother-in-law: Mary Smith, sister-in-law: Wanda F. Boughner, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews and friends that loved him dearly. Doug is preceded in death by his: Maternal grandparents: Bert and Dorothy Waddell, Paternal grandparents: Dwight and Gertie Wissler, and Paternal grandmother: Dorothy Wissler. One granddaughter: Vivie Ann Wissler and several uncles and aunts. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Family and friends may visit, Friday, December 8, 2023, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville. A Celebration of life will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 8, at the funeral home and will be officiated by Bob Smith. Graveside services and burial will follow at Dale Cemetery, Connersville, Indiana.
