Edith Mason, 92, of Connersville, died Tuesday afternoon, June 5, 2012, at Caroleton Manor Nursing Home.
Edith was born in Franklin County on August 10, 1919, to John Raymond and Mabel Neff Jones She attended Connersville High School and was married February 23, 1942 to William J. “Tum” Mason. In 1954, Edith began working as a seamstress at the Connersville Casket Company where she continued until it closed. She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed sewing clothes, prom, bridesmaid and wedding dresses and making toys for her family, Edith planted a large garden of vegetables each year and enjoyed tending her flowers. She was a member of Central Christian Church and had traveled with her husband throughout the United States. Edith’s greatest pleasure was spending time with her granddaughters and great-grandchildren.
Edith is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Janet and Richard Revalee; three granddaughters and their husbands: Rhonda and Dan Scott, Jana Risselman, Lisa and Brad Day, all of Connersville; seven great-grandchildren: C.J. Scott, Ryan Scott, Jonathon Fox and his fiancé, Kelsey Seifrig, Jase Meyer, Claire Risselman, Layne Baldwin, Bo Day; a great-great-granddaughter: Ansley Fox; three siblings: Robert L Jones and his wife, Frankie; Ellen Siler, Marjorie Sizemore, all of Connersville; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Edith was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years who died December 19, 1986 and three sisters: Virginia Mason, Alice Moore and Betty LaMont.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 12, at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville, with Rev. James R. Orr officiating. Interment will follow in Dale Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday where memorial contributions may be made to the Fayette County Cancer Society.
