Eilene Struewing Riebsomer, 87, of Connersville, died Saturday morning, October 15, 2016, at Reid Health in Richmond.
A native and lifelong resident of Connersville, Eilene was the daughter of Frank L. and Velma Coats Gulley, born January 25, 1929. In 1947, she graduated from Everton High School. She was married April 17, 1948, to Carl Struewing who died on Christmas morning, December 25, 1986. Eilene was a member of St. Gabriel Church for over forty years. She had employed for 23 years at the former Fayette Bank and Trust Company, retiring in 1988 as a branch manager. On June 10, 1989, she was married at First Baptist Church to Edgar E. “Hafey” Riebsomer, who died January 15, 2015. Together, they were members of the First Baptist Church.
Eilene is survived by her children and their spouses: Carleene Collins and David of Pershing, Debra Liedeke of Clearwater, Florida; Karen VanWinkle and Gary of Liberty, Judy LaMar and Bruce of Fishers; her sister: Wilma Koch of Winchester; her brother: Norman Gulley of Marion; a sister-in-law and her husband: Carol Koczwara and Eddie of Boardman, Ohio; a brother-in-law and his wife: Raymond Struewing and Linda of Connersville; a step-daughter: Rebekah Spivey of Bloomington; 10 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husbands, Eilene was preceded in death by her daughter, Nancy Grabowski; her grandson: Shane VanWinkle; two sisters: June Garman and Rebecca Stephen; two brothers: Frank and Marvin Gulley; and a step-son: Dennis Riebsomer.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, October 17, 2016, at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville, with Rev. Joseph J. Riedman officiating. Interment will follow in Dale Cemetery, section K. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 12 Monday until the time of service where memorial contributions may be made to Reid Hospice or to Reid Hospital.
