Elizabeth Ann “Annie” Steele, 33 of Connersville, died late Monday evening, December 24, 2012, at St. Francis Hospital, Indianapolis.
“Annie” was born in Connersville on March, 5, 1979 to Rhonda J. York and Wendall “Donnie” Steele and attended Connersville High School. “Annie” attended Garrison Creek Baptist Church. “Annie’s” life was centered around her love of horses. She had been employed at Indiana Downs in Shelbyville since it opened and most recently had worked there as an outrider. “Annie” was inseparable from her son, Blayne, whom she shared many activities, including riding quads, boating, horses, camping, and coon hunting.
“Annie” is survived by her son: Blayne Michael Collins; her significant other: G. Riley Collins; her mother: Rhonda J. Harmon and her significant other, Jim Gabbard; her father: Wendall “Donnie” Steele and his wife, Jeannie; her maternal grandmother: Rose York; her paternal grandparents: Bonnie and James Steele, all of Connersville; two sisters and their significant others: Amanda Steele and Chris Atwood of Rogersville Tennessee; Melissa Steele and Brandon Lakes of Connersville; a brother: Jacob Steele of Cambridge City; step-siblings: Jennifer Southerland, April Tyler and Rusty Collins, all of Cambridge City; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends.
“Annie” is preceded in death by her maternal grandfather: Billy “Gene” York and her first cousin: Jason Michael Steele.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville, with Reverend Merle Seeley of the Full Trinity Holiness Church in Metamora, officiating. Interment will follow in Little Children’s Home Church Cemetery, Franklin County. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 11 to 1 p.m. Saturday where memorial contributions may be made to the Fayette County Cancer Society.
