Elizabeth L. Barley, 95, of Liberty died Sunday, April 3, 2016 at Reid Health in Richmond. Elizabeth was born in Berwyn, Illinois, on November 1, 1920, to Chester Homer and Elizabeth Adel Bowden Bragg. She graduated from Central High School in South Bend. Elizabeth married the love of her life, Ward C. Barley Sr. in South Bend on August 21, 1954. She lived in this area since 1965. Elizabeth was a member of the Brownsville United Methodist Church and was a lady of strong faith. She was known for loving nature, collecting Indian Artifacts, reading, watching TV, going to yard sales, and being with her family. Elizabeth is survived by two sons: Ward Barley and James Barley both of Liberty; one daughter: Linda Barley of Liberty; one sister: Margaret Louise Markham of Lynnfield, MA; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband of fifty-three years, who died on March 10, 1975, Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Robert and John Bragg; and a sister: Alice Loy. A private graveside service will be conducted at the convenience of the family in the Christian Union Cemetery in Brownsville. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Brownsville United Methodist Church. Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Fosdick Chapel, in Liberty is assisting the family with the arrangements.
