May 29, 1943 — February 24, 2018

Connersville

Eugene Reece 74, went to heaven a shouting on Saturday, February 24th, 2018 with his loving wife by his side in their home in Wayne County. He was born on May 29th, 1943, in the area of Heidelburg in Lee County, Kentucky to the late Fred Sr. and Della Mays Reece. Eugene joined the US Navy in 1960 having served one year and was honorably discharged. He received a GED in 1983. He married the former Barbara Lee Case on the Reece Family Farm in Wayne County IN on April 21st, 1962 with Rev. Irvin Steel officiating.. They shared over 56 years together as a couple. He had worked hard all of his life and was an extremely hardworking man. Eugene was employed by D&M until it's closing. He was a master carpenter and had built several homes in this area, and in Louisiana and Pennsylvania operating as Gene Reece & Son Contractors. He loved the outdoors and was an avid woodcutter, cutting wood to sell and to heat their home. He gathered black walnuts for his wife to fix homemade fudge . He loved to spend time with his family and friends. If you knew Eugene and he was your friend you had a friend for life. His prized possessions in this life called him “Pa"; Joshua, Rachel, Bailee, and Kaiydence made life worth bragging about! When Eugene dedicated his life to the LORD, he loved the LORD and going to church became a way of life. He was a member of the Full Gospel Holiness Church and visited other area churches. Due to his love to sing he was involved in area nursing homes singing with the Full Gospel Singers. When the group would sing “ I'll Fly Away!” he often quoted Psalm 90:10 KJV The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away. Studying the Bible and also being a daily prayer warrior was a “Must”. He alongside his wife was a Sunday School teacher. His heart was dedicated to sharing the Gospel with children and was a generous giver to furthering the Gospel. Eugene is survived by his wife, Barbara, and their only child: Walter Eugene and daughter in law Judy Reece; Grandson: Joshua Reece of Nashville TN.
