Fred I. Venable, 73, of Connersville, died Friday evening, August 24, 2012, at his residence.
Fred was a native of Jackson County, Kentucky, born to Walter G. and Hazel Strong Venable on April 23, 1939 and attended school there. He had been employed as a journeyman electrical lineman at REMC, Richmond, Richmond Power and Light and local contract work. Fred had also owned and operated a tree trimmer service in Hamilton, Ohio and had worked at Clearview Cable. He attended Community Gospel Church. Fred most enjoyed his time with his family and in his leisure time, he liked to go to area casinos.
Fred is survived by his children: Richard W. Venable and his wife, Tracey of Panama City, Florida; Douglas A. Venable, Edward L. Venable, Nila Cones, John J. Venable and his wife, Billie J., all of Richmond; Janel L. Lee of Fountain City; Timothy J. Venable of Richmond; twelve grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren with another expected soon; nephews and nieces, including Debbie Bunch and her husband, Pat; Phyllis Trieschman and her husband, Steve, all of Connersville; and his former wife: Mary J Cooper of Richmond.
In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by two sisters: Ruby G. Moffitt and Eunice Harrison; and two brothers: Cliff and Jack Venable.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville, with Rev. Robert E. Lee of Connersville, officiating. Interment will follow in Lick Creek Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday where memorial contributions may be made to the Fayette County Cancer.
