Fayette County native, G. Michael Webb, 64, of Fairview Township died early Saturday morning, December 30, 2017, at his residence.
Mike was born October 21, 1953, the elder of two sons of William H. and Virginia Scholl Webb. In 1971, he graduated from Connersville High School and then attended Purdue University. Mike was employed on the family farm that he later managed and operated. He developed a passion for music early in his life and taught himself how to play the bass guitar. That led him to the upright bass and the challenges of jazz music. Mike enjoyed playing with many local musicians that included performances with Jerry VanBlair, Cal Collins, and Dan and Dave Toler. Mike attended Glenwood United Methodist Church. Mike lived life to the fullest and his distinctive laugh marked his presence in the room.
Mike is survived by his mother: Virginia S. Webb; his brother, Alan L. Webb, both of rural Fayette County; his nephew: Justin Michael Webb of Bloomington; his aunt: Barbara Michlich Mathews of Elwood City, Pennsylvania; and cousins.
Mike was preceded in death by his father, his maternal grandparents: Curtis P. and Doris Scholl and his paternal grandparents: Merritt and Mary Lucile Beaver Webb.
