Gary Edward Chaney, 70, of West College Corner, died Monday, October 31, 2011 at Mercy Hospital in Fairfield, Ohio.
Gary was born in Cincinnati to Charles and Margaret Bowman Chaney on May 21, 1941. After graduating from high school he married the former Susan Brownfield on July 16, 1960. Following his service in the United States Navy, Gary continued to enjoy spending time sailing and was active with the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary. A Master Plumber and Electrician, he owned Chaney Plumbing and Electrical, as well as Chaney RV Supplies. Gary was very involved with Cub Scouts Pack 985 in West College Corner for 25 years, and was a Past Master of New Fairfield Lodge F&AM #98.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years: Susan B. Chaney; children: Debbie Seltzer, of Maineville, Ohio; Charles Chaney, of Fairfield, Ohio; Neil Chaney and his wife, Jessica, of Atlanta, Georgia; Michele White and her husband, Ed, of Newnan, Georgia; brother: Bruce Chaney, of Hamilton, Ohio; sister-in-law: Carol Chaney Smith, of Miamisburg, Ohio; eight grandchildren: Chaz, Jessica, Chase, Charlie, Grace, Harry, Scarlet; great-grandson: Trenton; nieces: Mary, Wendy; great-nephew: Michael.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 3, 2011, at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Baker Chapel, in College Corner. Friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. Thursday until the time of the service where memorial contributions may be made to the College Corner United Methodist Church or to the Fairfield Lodge, F&AM #98.
