Geneva Mae Hamm

Geneva M. Hamm, 92, currently residing in Franklin County, died Saturday evening, July 20, 2013, at her residence. She had previously resided in Fayette County for many years. Geneva was born in Level Green, Kentucky, July 3, 1921 to William Henry and Lora Margaret Denney McKinney. She attended Broadhead High School in Broadhead, Kentucky and was married in Rock Castle County, Kentucky, December 27, 1939 to Aubrey A. Hamm. They moved to Connersville in 1940. For 38 years, Geneva was employed at Stant Manufacturing as a model press operator until her retirement in 1986. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and had attended Mt. Pleasant Community Church. Geneva enjoyed her time that was spent with her family. Her leisure time was often occupied with quilting and sewing. Geneva is survived by her brother with whom she had made her home: James Oscar McKinney and his wife, Linda of Franklin County; her daughter-in-law: Barbara Hamm of Ft. Wayne; her granddaughter: Sherri Nord and her husband, Paul of Valparaiso; three great-grandchildren: Micah, Melodie and August Nord; two sisters: Sue Barnes and her husband, William of Morrison, Oklahoma; Ruby Williams of Gosport; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Geneva was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years who died March 14, 1992; her son: Larry E. Hamm, who died September 3, 2000; brothers: William H. “Junior” McKinney, Jackson “Jack” McKinney and Robert McKinney; and sisters: Laverne Robinson, Flora Jacobs, Sally Montiel and Cella Colvin. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville, with Steve Kaiser officiating. Interment will follow in Dale Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. where memorial contribution may be made to Indiana University Alzheimer Disease Research or to the Lung Association.
