Harry H. Dils, 90, of Liberty died on Monday, May 15, 2017, at Reid Health in Richmond.
Harry was born in Wayne County on June 21, 1926, to Leonard and Helen Hart Dils. He graduated from Kitchel High School. Harry married Juanita Batcher on August 5, 1946 and they enjoyed 70 years together before Juanita died on August 6, 2016. Harry lived in this area all his life and was a farmer. He was a member of Four Mile Church of the Brethren. Harry served as the President of the 4H Association, and also served on the Union County Council. He loved farming and teaching his children to play baseball, basketball, and horseback riding.
Harry is survived by three children: Philip W. Dils of Carmel, Jan W. Dils and wife, Stacey of Richmond; and Susan Dare of Liberty; two sisters: Jean Ramey and husband, John of Centerville, and Evelyn Barber of Michigan; grandchildren: Justin Dare and Jessica Warnock , Brian Dils , Amanda Dils, Alex Dils, Matt Dils, Tara Harris, and Ella Dils; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Harry was preceded in death by four brothers: Winston, Malcom, Steve, and Dick Dils; two sisters: Pollyanne Schuler and Darlene Burris; a son-in-law: Terry Dare who died on May 26, 2014; and a grandson: Chris Earlywine.
Funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 22, 2017, at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Fosdick Chapel in Liberty with Rev. Merle Rummel of Four Mile Church of the Brethren officiating. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Sunday, May 21, 2017, from 1:30 until 5:30 p.m. where memorial contributions may be made to Four Mile Church of the Brethren.
