Helen Jane Frye, 79, of Rushville, died Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Rushville.
Helen was born in Lewis County, Kentucky on January 3, 1933 to Frank and Thelma Roberts Tanksley, and attended school in Tollesboro, Kentucky. On November 25, 1949, Helen was married in Vanceburg, Kentucky to Martin “Gene” Frye, who died on December 27, 2003. They moved to the Orange community in 1966 and had most recently resided in Glenwood. Helen was a member of the Glenwood Church of Christ and was a member of the Our Other Sister Club in Glenwood for 25 years. Helen and Gene devoted their lives to caring for their disabled son. Helen loved to sew and quilt. In her leisure time she enjoyed gardening and was an avid walker.
Helen is survived by her son Carl Eugene Frye of Rushville; a brother: Leroy Tanksley and his wife Patty, of the Orange community; her sister: Mary Hallgarth of Greenfield; many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband; a sister: Priscilla Polley; two brothers: William and Lester Tanksley.
Funeral services will be at 11am Monday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville, with Reverend James Hundley of the Bible Baptist Fellowship in Harrison, Ohio, officiating. Interment will follow in Orange Cemetery, Fayette County. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 3 to 4 pm Sunday, where memorial contributions may be made to United Cerebral Palsy of Greater Indiana.
