Howard Winstead, 71, of Connersville, died Friday, February 17, 2017 at his residence.
A Jackson County, Kentucky native, Howard was born July 18, 1945 to Albert and Ida Mae Gentry Winstead and was a 1965 graduate of McKee High School. For over twenty years, Howard was employed in the maintenance department at Fayette County School Corporation until his retirement in 2007. His favorite hobby was to buy, remodel and sell homes. In his leisure time, Howard loved watching Kentucky University basketball. He was a man of strong faith who loved his family and God.
Howard is survived by his wife, the former Joyce Ann Venable; his children: Maulicia K. Winstead Alexander; Rynette Rochelle Farris and her husband, Dion; Justin Lingg, whom he regarded as his son; his granddaughters: Devyn Truitt and her husband, Jacob; Halle Farris, all of Connersville; his brother: Roy Winstead and his wife, Christine of Dayton, Ohio; several nephews and nieces including: Donna Winstead of Connersville; Linda Winstead Lusk of Springboro, Ohio; and a great-granddaughter expected soon.
In addition to his parents, Howard is preceded in death by his siblings: Don Winstead, Harold Gentry, Barbara Winstead Neeley.
Funeral services will be conducted at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville with Pastor Rick Osborne, Howard’s great-nephew officiating. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday where memorial contributions may be made to the Indiana University Alzheimer Research.
