Irene D. Day, 82. of Connersville, died early Thursday morning, December 1, 2011, at her residence.
Irene was born in Wind Cave, Kentucky, April 14, 1929, to Nathan James and Isabelle Isacs Isaacs. She attended school in Kentucky and came to Connersville with her sister, Bernice. Irene enjoyed working as an aide at area nursing homes and was later employed at Ford Electronics for seven years. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and liked to attend bluegrass music festivals. In her leisure time, Irene enjoyed creating crafts and traveling, often camping along the way.
Irene is survived by her husband, Raymond D. Day whom she married October 16, 1970 in Metamora; two children and their spouses Kathy Fultz and Roger of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, Jack L. Daniels and Beverley of Connersville; five siblings: Esther Gabbard of Connersville, Bernice Lakes of Tucson, Arizona, Grethel Schoettmer, Wayland Isaacs and his wife, Rita, all of Connersville; James Isaacs and his companion, Linda Cox of Wind Cave, Kentucky; four grandchildren and their spouses: Jason Lee Daniels of Connersville, Leah Rae Sanchez and Anthony of Tucson, Arizona, Davey Lee Daniels and Carla of Connersville, Jackie Olivia Bodwell and C.J. of Indianapolis; two step-grandchildren: Amy Fultz of Midland, Texas, Stuart Fultz of Oceanside, California; eleven great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and many friends.
In addition to her parents, Irene was preceded in death by her first husband, Davey Daniels and her daughter, Donna Jo Malott who died June 7, 2010.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor John Reynolds officiating. Interment will follow in Dale Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday and after 10 a.m. Monday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fayette County Cancer Society.
