Iva Mae Scott, 97, of Venice, FL, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2023.
Iva was born on January 24, 1926, in Buena Vista, Indiana to Wesley and Jessie Glenn, the fourth of six children. As teenagers, Iva and her younger sister were adopted by Fred and Pearl Monger of Connersville. The family moved to Indianapolis where Iva graduated from Ben Davis High School in 1946. In 1951, she married Robert “Bob” Scott. Iva and Bob enjoyed gardening and farming the family farm in Brownsburg for more than 50 years. Iva met many of her lifelong friends as a longtime member of the Square Uppers square Dance Club and as a member of local bowling leagues. Iva adored caring for babies and worked at Button & Bows Daycare in Avon for many years. In later years, Iva enjoyed beating her friends and family in Bingo and Euchre, and FaceTiming with her loved ones.
In addition to her husband and parents, Iva was preceded in death by brothers Lawrence (Thelma), Charles (Mary), and Raymond (Patricia) Glenn; sisters Laura Ketchum (Robert) and Goldie Rodgers (Harold) ; and granddaughter Alissa Davis.
Iva is survived by two children: Steven Scott (Denise Whitaker) of Fort Worth, Texas and Linda Davis (Ron) of Venice, Florida. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Nathan Scott (Jamie), John Scott, Dustin McCoy (Amber), Brittany Davis Vanneman (Brian) and Brian Davis as well as four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may visit from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 29, 2023, at Showalter Blackwell Long, Myers Chapel, until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. True to her Indiana roots and final desire to be laid to rest near her younger sister, burial will follow at Rushville East Hill Cemetery.
